WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM GOES ON THE ROAD FOR THIRD STRAIGHT TOURNEY
 

RICHMOND, Ky. - First-year head coach Joni Stephens' Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team will play in its third straight fall tournament on the road Monday and Tuesday when the Lady Colonels compete in the Lady Racer Classic hosted by Murray State University.

In the opening tourney of the fall, EKU tied for second in the 36-hole Tennessee Tech Classic. Eastern shot a 632 to tie with Murray State, 30 strokes behind the host school who won the tourney in the 17-team field.

Junior Krissie Kirby of Irvine led Eastern as she tied for third with a 152 (77-75). Sisters Michelle and Jackie Biro were next for EKU as they both shot 158's to tie for 11th. Rounding out Eastern's score was Samantha Moses who shot a 160 (16th) and Julie Bourne who came in with a 165 (tie-21st).

Earlier this week, Eastern competed in the Lady Highlander Invitational at the Draper Valley Golf Course in Dublin,VA, hosted by Radford University and finished eighth of 15 teams by shooting a two-round total of 635. Campbell University won the tournament with a remarkable, six-over-par 582.

Jackie Biro topped Eastern's entrants with her 157, which tied her for 26th. Kirby and Michelle Biro shot 158's, followed by Moses at 164 and freshman Kelli Wilson at 168.
