The one-two punch of Jenny Daag and Jessica Widman was the difference for the Racers. Daag and Widman finished in first and second place, respectively, for the tournament. The top finisher for Eastern was Jackie Biro as she fired a 232 to notch third place. Also playing well for the Maroon-and-White was Krissie Kirby who scored a 246 to notch an eighth place finish, and Julie Bourne's tenth place 248 helped propel the Colonels. A pair of players, Colleen Yaeger and Samantha Moses, shot 252 to wrap up in a tie for 13th.
The 1998 season was one in which the young Colonels finished near the middle of the pack in most tournaments. The team finished 16th of 23 teams in the College of Charleston Invitational which kicked off the season. The Jacksonville State Invitational followed and the team ended up in ninth place in the 15-team field.
Next up was the Saluki Invitational where EKU finished eighth of 15 teams. The trend continued in the final two tournaments, which were both held in Richmond at Arlington. At the Lady Colonel Invitational, Eastern captured a seventh place finish where 14 teams had entered. The final tournament was the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in which EKU finished second of four teams.
